Travel to Sardinia Italy
How to reach Sardinia? If you have never been in this beautiful Italian island you may be a bit concerned about the travel arrangements to arrive to Sardinia. Actually it is quite easy to reach Sardinia from the mainland and there are many different types of transport options as well as different carriers.
Flight connections are available to the following Sardinian airports: Cagliari Elmas (CAG) - South of Sardinia, Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB) - North East of Sardinia, Alghero Fertilia (AHO) - North West of Sardinia, and only seasonally to Tortolì-Arbatax (TTB) - East of Sardinia.
Ferry boat connections are available with different seasonal timetables and availabilities to the following Sardinian ports: Cagliari - South of Sardinia, Olbia Isola Bianca - North East of Sardinia, Olbia Golfo Aranci - North East of Sardinia, Porto Torres - North West of Sardinia, Arbatax Tortolì - East of Sardinia. There are also ferry connections to the nearby French island of Corsica between the Corse port of Bonifacio and the Sardinian port of Santa Teresa di Gallura.
Tha Sardinian small island of San Pietro, also well known as Carloforte island is connected to the Sardinian ports of Sant Antioco and Portovesme in the South West coast. Similarly the La Maddalena small island is connected to Palau port in Sardinia.
Once in Sardinia it is possible to travel with the State railways, also called FS or Trenitalia and local Bus services. If you have limited time or want to reach easily all of the best Sardinian attractions it would be good to move around with a car or a motorbike, it is easy to rent a car and sometimes a motorbike in all Sardinia arrival ports and airports.
